TL;DR
Head of Quality Engineering (AI) (PHP/Kotlin/Go/Python): Owning engineering quality across a fintech organisation by improving SLOs, incident follow-ups, quality gates, CI pipelines, and testing practices with an accent on hands-on automation and AI-assisted quality tooling. Focus on building quality engineering capability, reducing incident rates, introducing performance testing, and deploying AI agents for test failure triage and production observation.
Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid work with the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays, and office attendance on other days

What you will do
- Own engineering quality across the organisation while enabling individual engineering teams to deliver reliable software.
- Monitor and improve SLO performance, introduce systematic performance testing, and ensure quality initiatives are completed.
- Own incident follow-ups, identify quality hotspots and risks, and recommend remediation.
- Hire and manage approximately two Quality Engineers and deploy them into engineering teams.
- Drive quality practices across the SDLC, including shift-left testing, quality guilds, and roadmap initiatives.
- Develop and introduce AI-assisted testing, test failure triage, and production observation tools.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience in quality-related roles and a track record of running organisation-wide QA initiatives.
- Hands-on experience testing backend and frontend systems, including functional, unit, performance, and accessibility testing.
- Experience line-managing a small team and managing senior stakeholders.
- Experience with B2C products at scale, serving millions of users.
- Experience improving CI/CD test reliability through flakiness reduction, parallelisation, artifact management, and runtime control.
- Experience shipping AI tooling into a quality process and explaining its impact on team workflows.
Nice to have
- Experience with Datadog, Sentry, incident.io, SLOs, or similar tools and processes.
- Experience in financial services or another regulated B2C environment.
- Mobile application testing experience with Maestro, native iOS/Android, or React Native.
