TL;DR

Focus on collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to provide traceable loads data and supporting wind tunnel and flight test planning.

Location: Must be based in San Jose, California

What you will do

  • Own the development, documentation, and improvement of the airframe loads development process.
  • Provide static and fatigue loads consumable by downstream teams including airframe, engine, and mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with aerodynamics, mass properties, and propeller teams to ensure data consistency.
  • Support wind tunnel and flight test planning, instrumentation definition, and data analysis.
  • Participate in means and methods of compliance discussions with the FAA.
  • Prepare certification test plans and ensure traceable, repeatable analysis methods.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Aerospace Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in loads analysis and downselection for air vehicles.
  • Working knowledge of structural analysis, strength, stability, and fatigue failure mechanisms.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or Matlab scripting.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US (no visa sponsorship available).
  • Experience in a fast-paced design environment.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of 14 CFR Parts 23, 27, and 35 certification standards.
  • Experience with FE models (NASTRAN) and rotorcraft simulation tools (RCAS/CAMRAD).
  • Experience developing loads for eVTOL vehicles or tiltrotors.
  • CAD proficiency (NX preferred).
