What you will do

• Organize and document datasets to support long-term preservation and public accessibility.
• Apply standardized data and metadata formats to ensure datasets are analysis-ready.
• Develop and maintain data delivery schedules for research teams and stakeholders.
• Support the salvage and documentation of historical datasets to improve usability.
• Provide user support for data portals and management tools.
• Train partner scientists and program staff on data management best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science, Marine Sciences, Wildlife Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Must be based in the US within Alaskan, Hawaii-Aleutian, or Pacific time zones.
• Familiarity with responsible data management practices and formats like CSV and NetCDF.
• Knowledge of scientific metadata formats such as ISO, EML, Darwin Core, CF Conventions, and ACDD.
• Familiarity with Python or R and working in an agile development environment.
• Ability to travel up to 5% annually for conferences and meetings.

Nice to have

• Experience collecting data as part of a scientific research project.
• Experience publishing open data products.
• Familiarity with tools like DataONE, NCEI, EDI, Dataverse, Dryad, or Zenodo.
