What you will do

• Build and scale the Data Governance function from the ground up, defining the strategic roadmap and operating model.
• Establish and maintain role-based access governance and data classification across Snowflake and other data platforms.
• Develop a comprehensive data quality framework including monitoring, alerting, and remediation, specifically for financial reporting data.
• Implement a data catalog and metadata management capability to improve data discoverability and lineage.
• Partner with Legal, IT, and Privacy teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including SOC 2.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering to ensure governance requirements are built directly into pipelines and semantic models.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data management, engineering, or analytics, ideally within a large-scale SaaS or tech business.
• Deep expertise in data access controls, classification, lineage, and metadata management.
• Experience working with finance organizations and a strong understanding of financial data production and governance.
• Ability to review SQL code to ensure technical implementation aligns with business intent.
• Must be based in the United States.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake or an equivalent cloud data warehouse.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with dbt or similar pipeline transformation tooling.
• Experience with data catalog platforms such as Alation, Collibra, or DataHub.
