What you will do

• Supervise, train, and mentor bookkeeping staff while establishing department procedures and performance standards.
• Manage full-cycle accounting functions, including AP, AR, bank reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close processes.
• Oversee corporate billing operations, reviewing contracts to ensure billing accuracy and revenue capture.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with external CPAs, auditors, and tax professionals.
• Support payroll processing and optimize accounting and property management software.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in property management or real estate.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in coaching and managing accounting teams.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, trust accounting, and CAM reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with Peachtree (Sage) and NetSuite is preferred.
• Ability to work onsite full time in Portland, Maine
