Senior Java Big Data Engineer

Location: Georgia, Moldova, or Ukraine; remote and hybrid work options are available.

Technology services provider working with a global marketing technology company whose platform supports cross-channel programmatic media planning and activation.

What you will do

• Own the full development lifecycle, from solution design and implementation through production deployment and support.
• Design and implement scalable big data solutions in Java and contribute to platform infrastructure and architecture.
• Lead complex technical initiatives supporting the core business.
• Mentor developers and help resolve complex technical challenges.
• Research core technologies, external APIs, and third-party integrations.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, data providers, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial software development experience with Java.
• Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and SQL databases.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka, streaming systems, microservices, and production big data technologies.
• Experience designing, developing, and scaling high-load systems, including work with legacy codebases and production troubleshooting.
• Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• English at B1 level or higher and willingness to participate in an off-hours PagerDuty rotation.

Nice to have

• Experience with Apache Spark, Hadoop, or MapReduce.
• Experience with Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with GitLab, Grafana, InfluxDB, Apache Airflow, Redis, or Scala.
