What you will do

• Translate atmospheric and operational questions into measurable quantitative criteria.
• Build and document quality-controlled datasets required for assigned research projects.
• Apply statistical, climatological, geospatial, and decision-analysis methods.
• Compare results across NWP, satellite, radar, terrain, and in-situ data sources.
• Create maps, summaries, and decision-oriented outputs for scientists and operators.
• Deliver final artifacts such as technical reports, datasets, or operational tools.

Requirements

• Background in meteorology, atmospheric science, physics, applied mathematics, statistics, or geospatial science.
• Full-time, on-site presence in El Segundo, CA is required.
• Strong proficiency in Python and quantitative analysis.
• Experience working with meteorological, climate, geospatial, radar, or satellite data.
• Ability to quantify uncertainty, bias, and sensitivity to assumptions.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with GRIB, netCDF, xarray, or NWP datasets.
• Knowledge of cloud microphysics, orographic meteorology, convection, or weather modification.
• Proficiency in forecast verification and spatial statistics.
• Experience with reproducible scientific workflows and decision-oriented visualization.
