Sr AI Architect (Conversational AI)

Location: Remote and based in the United States; approximately 5% travel is anticipated for in-person customer and team meetings.

Salary: $275,840–$344,800, $292,080–$365,100, or $324,480–$405,600 annually, depending on location.

What you will do

• Define the long-term AI and ML architecture for customer-facing conversational AI capabilities powered by data and memory.
• Own the strategic roadmap for the company-wide ML/AI Ops platform, including model development, deployment, and lifecycle management.
• Evaluate and implement LLM architectures, RAG systems, MCP and tooling frameworks, agentic AI orchestration, and inference optimization.
• Establish architectural guardrails and responsible AI standards while transitioning research concepts into resilient, compliant, cost-effective production systems.
• Partner with Product Management to translate product roadmaps into technical milestones tied to customer value.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership through code reviews, pair programming, mentoring, and cross-organizational initiatives.

Requirements

• 15+ years of software engineering experience, including 6+ years building and scaling production-grade ML systems at platform level.
• Extensive experience with ML Ops and LLM Ops, evaluation metrics, automated retraining, and monitoring non-deterministic AI features at scale.
• Deep expertise in transformer models, LLM orchestration, embedding models, inference optimization, vector stores, semantic retrieval, contextual compression, and multi-turn state management.
• Experience building cloud services with AWS, GCP, or Azure and managing high-volume data and data stores.
• Exceptional communication, collaboration, mentoring, and company-wide technical strategy skills.
• Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.

Nice to have

• Publications at leading ML conferences or significant open-source contributions.
• Experience designing context-quality evaluation frameworks and enterprise-scale ML/AI Ops platforms.
• Experience working in geographically distributed environments.
