Applied AI Architect, Public Sector (Federal Civilian)

Location: San Francisco, CA; New York City, NY; Washington, D.C. Hybrid policy: staff are expected to work from one of the offices at least 25% of the time, with some roles requiring more office time. Frequent travel to customer sites is required.

Annual OTE compensation: $275,000–$315,000 USD, including base salary and target sales commissions or bonuses.

What you will do

• Partner with account executives to understand federal customer requirements and translate business objectives into technical solutions.
• Advise enterprise customers throughout Claude adoption, from technical discovery and initial evaluation through deployment, coordinating across Sales, Product, Engineering, and other stakeholders.
• Support customers building with Claude Code, the Claude API, and Claude for Enterprise.
• Create and deliver technical content ranging from engineering deep dives to executive-level business value discussions.
• Guide architecture decisions, scalable cloud integration, and evaluation frameworks for customer-specific Claude use cases.
• Travel frequently to customer sites for workshops, technical deep dives, and relationship building, while sharing integration patterns with Product and Engineering teams.

Requirements

• Prior experience working with US federal agencies is required.
• At least 5 years of experience in technical customer-facing roles such as Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer, or Technical Account Manager.
• Experience navigating complex buying cycles involving multiple stakeholders.
• Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills with C-suite executives, engineering and IT teams, and other diverse stakeholders.
• Strong technical communication skills and the ability to translate requirements between technical and business stakeholders.
• Experience designing scalable cloud architectures and integrating with enterprise systems.
• Familiarity with Python.
• Familiarity with common LLM frameworks and tools, or a background in machine learning or data science.
• Ability and interest in cross-organizational collaboration, trade-off analysis, and balancing competing priorities.
• Teaching, mentoring, excellent interpersonal communication, and a passion for using technology to advance safe and beneficial AI systems.
• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a field relevant to the role through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Nice to have

• Security clearance is a plus but is not required.
• Experience working with US state and/or local government agencies.
