What you will do

• Build, improve, and operate backend services powering Flag Delivery systems.
• Support streaming and polling delivery models for LaunchDarkly SDKs.
• Debug production issues and improve reliability, latency, availability, and observability.
• Work with distributed backend patterns: caching layers, concurrency, failure handling, and cloud infrastructure.
• Collaborate with SDK, Platform, SRE, Security, and Enterprise teams; participate in on-call and take ownership of systems.
• Use AI in engineering workflows while reasoning clearly about code, architecture, and whole-system behavior.

Requirements

• Location: Must be based in the US or LatAm
• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Experience building or operating production backend systems.
• Strong programming skills in Go, Java, Rust, or a similar backend language (team primarily uses Go).
• Clear, existing AI usage in engineering work; ability to use AI without surrendering technical judgment.
• Familiarity with distributed systems fundamentals and experience debugging production issues using observability.
