What you will do

• Lead end-to-end IP strategy for the biologic patent portfolio to maximize exclusivity positions.
• Draft, file, and prosecute strategic patent applications worldwide, managing both internal teams and outside counsel.
• Coordinate third-party challenges, including European oppositions, appeals, and US post-grant proceedings (IPRs, PGRs).
• Drive competitor intelligence efforts and freedom-to-operate analyses to inform actionable IP strategies.
• Collaborate with R&D, CMC, and product teams to identify and harvest new inventions.
• Support business development and due diligence activities as a subject matter expert in asset IP.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in a life science discipline and a J.D. from an accredited US law school.
• Member in good standing of a US State Bar and registered to practice before the USPTO.
• 15+ years of patent experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech sector, including significant in-house experience.
• Deep expertise in viral gene therapy, protein therapeutics, and antisense oligonucleotide technologies.
• Proven experience with patent disputes, including litigation, IPRs, and PGRs.
• Superb technical, written, and verbal communication skills in English.
