What you will do

• Manage and coach a team of product designers working across dbt platform and CLI-based products.
• Define and drive the UX strategy for dbt's product experience, connecting design priorities to product outcomes.
• Provide design direction for complex technical workflows used by data engineers and analysts.
• Lead design strategy for AI-powered and agentic experiences, ensuring AI assistance is understandable, useful, and safe.
• Co-create a unified product experience and design culture during the integration of hirify.global and dbt Labs.
• Operationalize AI across the design lifecycle, from research and ideation to prototyping and QA.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to work in Oakland, California (Hybrid).
• 8+ years of product design experience and 5+ years managing product designers.
• Experience designing for technically complex products such as ELT, data infrastructure, or cloud platforms.
• Proven experience designing AI-powered or agentic product experiences.
• Strong technical fluency to reason about complex systems and discuss tradeoffs with Engineering partners.
• Experience owning UX strategy for a meaningful product area.
