Engineering Manager (Foundational Services)

Location: Fully remote; applicants must be based in the United States or Canada.

Salary: $150,000–$180,000 per year, with potential additional bonus or commission.

What you will do

• Manage two engineering groups building shared foundational services for authentication, account management, subscriptions, and benefits access.
• Set product and architecture direction with product, design, and engineering leaders.
• Develop engineers through regular one-on-ones, goal setting, feedback, mentoring, and career-focused opportunities.
• Collaborate with Media, Mapping, Product, Customer Service, and other partner teams to expand platform capabilities.
• Guide architecture decisions, technical planning, estimation, documentation, and prioritization of technical debt.
• Establish modern engineering practices including CI/CD, distributed tracing, DORA metrics, observability dashboards, and LLM-assisted development.

Requirements

• Experience managing and developing engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, feature development, and code review.
• Ability to evaluate technical tradeoffs and provide direction without being involved in every implementation detail.
• Experience with technical planning, reliable estimation, documentation, and cross-functional communication.
• Ability to participate hands-on when needed through prototyping or technical spikes.
• Must be based in the United States or Canada for this fully remote role.
