Senior Data Engineer (Employee or Freelance)

Location: Brussels, Belgium; hybrid workplace with up to three remote days per week.

hirify.global is an insurtech company building an orchestration engine for embedded insurance and operating international insurance programs.

What you will do

• Build, maintain, and optimize dbt data pipelines supporting embedded insurance operations and financial reporting.
• Design flexible data models and streamline BigQuery structures to reduce redundancy and data fragmentation.
• Implement automated quality checks, anomaly detection, unit tests, and integration tests.
• Maintain data security, privacy controls, data lineage, and access management for sensitive insurance and financial data.
• Improve data warehouse architecture through code reviews, technical knowledge sharing, documentation, and stakeholder enablement.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with SQL and complex data modeling.
• Production experience with dbt and Python.
• Experience with modern cloud platforms and serverless data warehouses; BigQuery is highly preferred.
• Strong engineering practices with Git, Bash, Docker, CI/CD, unit testing, and integration testing.
• High autonomy, pragmatic decision-making, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Fluent English is required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in STEM.
• Professional working proficiency in Dutch.
• Experience in fintech, insurtech, or financial reporting systems.
