What you will do

• Lead the technical architecture and engineering direction for the API Gateway, Service Mesh, and the MCP Gateway.
• Design and harden the MCP Gateway to enable AI agents (e.g., Claude) to interact securely with internal services.
• Drive AI-agent-enabled traffic operations, including automated troubleshooting, config impact analysis, and service onboarding.
• Own end-to-end major migrations, such as Envoy adoption and Java-to-Go transitions, ensuring backward compatibility.
• Implement resiliency practices, including FMEA and Game Day exercises, to minimize P1/P2 production incidents.
• Mentor senior-track engineers and provide technical input for the annual roadmap planning.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with large-scale, low-latency distributed systems.
• Deep hands-on expertise with Envoy and/or Istio, or similar modern service mesh and API gateway architectures.
• Strong systems-level programming skills in Go and/or Java.
• Experience designing secure authentication/authorization systems for high-throughput traffic (OAuth, mTLS, token exchange).
• Proven track record of leading incident response and root-cause analysis for critical infrastructure.
• Experience with AWS networking and infrastructure, including VPC, NAT/TGW, and load balancing.

Nice to have

• Experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol), LLM gateway patterns, or agent-to-service protocols.
• Knowledge of eBPF-based traffic capture or observability tooling.
• Familiarity with WASM or Go-based Envoy extension development.
• Background in chaos engineering or FMEA methodology.
