Location: Hybrid (2-3 days onsite) in Gaithersburg, Maryland, United States

Salary: $140,000 - $150,000 USD

What you will do

• Design and implement the company's first dedicated Employee Relations function, including investigation protocols and case management infrastructure.
• Manage the full ER caseload (approximately 130 annual touch points), including workplace investigations and performance-based terminations.
• Partner closely with Legal to translate legal risk and guidance into operational business actions.
• Develop manager-facing playbooks, toolkits, and training to equip leaders to own performance management independently.
• Monitor ER hotspots and ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years focused on employee relations.
• Must be based in or able to work hybrid in Gaithersburg, MD.
• Proven track record of personally owning and conducting workplace investigations.
• Experience supporting both production/operations and commercial/sales populations.

Nice to have

• Experience in life sciences, biotech, diagnostics, or healthcare industries.
• PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or AWI certification.
• Experience in high-growth companies (500–3,000 employees) undergoing operational transformation.
• Familiarity with ER in regulated environments (CLIA, CAP, FDA).
