Senior Software Engineer (Scala/Spark)

TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (Scala/Spark): Developing and supporting data collection and scoring pipelines for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) with an accent on big data processing and ETL routines. Focus on building Spark applications, optimizing SQL analytics, and implementing CI/CD pipelines within AWS environments.

Location: Must reside and perform work within the United States (100% Remote within U.S.)

Salary: $175,427.00 to $183,610.00 per year

What you will do

• Build data processing pipelines using Spark and Scala to derive information from large government datasets.
• Develop ETL processing routines and data models for Postgres, Redshift, and S3 Parquet files.
• Collaborate with UI, UX, and QA teams to define data and reporting requirements.
• Write unit and integration tests and perform code reviews to improve software quality.
• Partner with DevOps engineers on CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT/Software Engineering with 5+ years of experience OR Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience.
• Must reside in the United States and have lived in the U.S. for 3 of the last 5 years.
• Must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance.
• Strong proficiency in Scala, Spark (Dataset API), and SQL development/tuning.
• Experience with AWS services: EMR, Redshift, Code build, Lambda, and ECS.
• Proficiency with Git, GitHub, and Jira/Confluence.

Nice to have

• Prior experience working with Medicare and/or Medicaid data.
• Experience with Federal Government contracting.
