What you will do

• Define and own the application architecture patterns, standards, and reference implementations across the organization.
• Architect complex backend systems, including microservices, APIs, and event-driven protocols.
• Design high-performance data platforms for AI workloads using vector stores, graph databases, and distributed caching.
• Establish guardrails for AI-native applications, including LLM integration, RAG, and agentic workflows.
• Conduct architecture reviews to ensure scalability, performance, security, and cost-efficiency.
• Ensure architectures comply with healthcare regulations, specifically HIPAA and PHI handling.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in software architecture, backend engineering, or data engineering.
• Demonstrated experience with distributed backend systems and microservices.
• Hands-on experience designing data platforms for high-volume workloads (vector/graph databases).
• Practical experience building AI-native applications involving LLMs and orchestration frameworks.
• Strong command of cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Must be based in or able to work from Newark, New Jersey, United States.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare or other highly regulated data environments.
• Experience with HITRUST, NIST, or similar compliance frameworks.
• Familiarity with modern warehouse/lakehouse and high-performance analytical platforms.
• Experience defining AI-assisted software development workflows.
