About the Role

You will advise on complex legal and regulatory matters involving prepaid, debit, and credit card products. You will assess legal risk, recommend mitigation strategies, monitor new regulations, and support the launch of products, features, and campaigns. You will work with cross-functional stakeholders, sponsor banks, customers, and outside legal counsel.

Requirements

• 5+ years of in-house fintech or banking experience, or experience at a reputable law firm, focused on prepaid, debit, or credit cards
• Deep understanding of the payments industry and laws, rules, and regulations affecting banks, issuer processors, and program managers
• Ability to drive complex projects to completion on tight timelines
• Practical risk awareness and ability to balance legal mitigation with business objectives
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to influence outcomes and drive accountability
• Advanced problem-solving skills
• JD degree and membership in good standing of a State Bar

Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted advisor on laws, regulations, and card-network rules for prepaid, debit, and credit card products
• Provide legal advice on payment laws, financial-services regulations, consumer protection, and enforcement actions
• Assess legal risks and recommend mitigation strategies for financial and payments products
• Advise product, engineering, risk, and go-to-market stakeholders
• Monitor and analyze new payments and financial-services regulations
• Support launches of new products, features, and campaigns with internal teams, sponsor banks, and customers
• Manage outside legal counsel
