Data Governance Manager (Fintech)

Data Governance Manager (Fintech): Leading a multi-disciplinary team to manage data governance, quality, and privacy for an investment platform with an accent on implementing governance frameworks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Focus on driving data ownership, managing metadata and lineage, and overseeing operational data privacy activities like DPIAs and ROPAs.

Location: Hybrid (Manchester, UK). Minimum 50% office attendance per month required. New team members will spend an initial period full-time in the office.

What you will do

• Lead and develop a high-performing team of Data Analysts, BI Developers, and Privacy Analysts.
• Drive the implementation and continuous improvement of data governance frameworks, standards, and controls.
• Embed effective data ownership and stewardship across business domains.
• Oversee data quality monitoring, reporting, issue management, and remediation.
• Manage governance processes for metadata, business glossaries, and data lineage.
• Lead operational data privacy activities, including DPIAs, ROPAs, and data retention schedules.

Requirements

• Proven experience managing and developing teams in data governance, quality, privacy, or analytics.
• Strong understanding of data governance frameworks and best practices.
• Experience working in a regulated environment.
• Hands-on experience using SQL and Power BI for data analysis and reporting.
• Strong knowledge of UK GDPR and operational privacy requirements.
• Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Nice to have

• Experience within financial services.
• Knowledge of Consumer Duty, operational resilience, and regulatory reporting.
• DAMA CDMP or other recognized data management qualifications.
• Qualifications in privacy, risk management, or business analysis.
