Engineering Lead (Fintech)

TL;DR

Location: Remote (UK). Expectation to meet in person 4-5 times a year for company events (travel expenses covered).

What you will do

• Lead team practices, implementing lean/kanban methodologies across engineering squads.
• Manage day-to-day operations, including 1:1s, removing blockers, and overseeing delivery velocity.
• Build and maintain automated test coverage while setting high QA standards.
• Drive the adoption of AI developer tooling in collaboration with the CTO.
• Own the code review culture, ensuring consistency and high-quality feedback.
• Collaborate with technical team leads on database, language, and tooling decisions.

Requirements

• Must be based in the UK.
• Proven engineering management experience, including running 1:1s and team accountability.
• Strong SDET background with hands-on experience building automated testing frameworks.
• Proficiency with QA automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress.
• Ability to report directly to the CTO and deliver against engineering vision.

Nice to have

• Experience introducing AI developer tooling (e.g., Claude, Codex) in a team context.
• Background in fintech, payments, or highly regulated SaaS environments.
• Familiarity with C#.NET, VB.NET, Vue.js, MongoDB, Node.js, PHP/Laravel, Postgres, MSSQL, or MySQL.
• Experience improving code review culture and software craftsmanship standards.
