Department Leader, Operational Purchasing

What you will do

• Lead, develop, and improve the Procurement Services organization, including team performance, capability development, and organizational growth.
• Evolve the procurement service delivery model and translate business-unit demand into priorities, workflows, and resource allocation.
• Drive process excellence across requisition validation, purchase order processing, approvals, and invoice handling.
• Ensure compliant procurement operations in line with internal policies, governance standards, and approval frameworks.
• Manage KPIs, workloads, bottlenecks, and resource deployment to maintain service quality.
• Coordinate with Procurement, SCM IT, Category Management, business units, and suppliers to scale services and onboard new business units.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in procurement, shared services, supply chain, or operational service environments.
• University degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong people leadership, team development, stakeholder management, communication, and structured problem-solving skills.
• Strong background in operational procurement and procure-to-pay processes.
• Experience with ERP and procurement systems such as SAP or similar.
• Business-proficient English and fluent German are required.
