BI Reporting Engineer (Azure)

TL;DR

BI Reporting Engineer (Azure/SQL): Building and validating the platform's reporting semantic layer and dashboard outputs with an accent on dimensional modeling and data reconciliation. Focus on translating business requirements into production-ready SQL views and implementing star schema models within Azure environments.

Location: Remote, but must be able to commute to client offices in Falls Church, VA approximately every 2 weeks

What you will do

• Build and maintain Azure SQL reporting views, aggregations, and semantic layer structures.
• Implement star schema dimensional models using Azure Synapse Analytics, Microsoft Fabric, or Databricks.
• Translate documented business requirements and specifications into production-ready dashboards and reports.
• Perform detailed line-by-line data validation of report outputs against ERP source data.
• Coordinate with and review the work of offshore BI Engineers to ensure implementation quality.
• Support UAT sessions with business users and resolve discrepancies during hypercare.

Requirements

• 4–7 years of BI or data engineering experience with a focus on reporting and analytics delivery.
• Strong SQL skills, including complex query writing and performance tuning on Azure SQL or Synapse.
• Experience implementing semantic layers and dimensional modeling (star schemas, fact/dimension tables).
• Proficiency with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Sigma, or Apache ECharts.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and version control via Azure DevOps.
• Must be based in the US and able to commute to Falls Church, VA.

Nice to have

• Experience building reporting layers on top of Oracle Fusion Cloud data (PPM, Financials, SCM, HCM).
• Familiarity with lakehouse or medallion architecture patterns (Bronze/Silver/Gold).
• Experience with Apache ECharts embedded in React applications.
• Experience delivering financial reporting for construction, real estate, or project-based industries.
