• Manage a team of senior and staff engineers focused on Git version control and related infrastructure.
• Drive execution on complex, long-horizon work across performance, scalability, and core Git architecture.
• Balance upstream open source development with internal product and infrastructure priorities.
• Support engineer growth through mentoring, feedback, and career development.
• Foster strong written communication and asynchronous alignment across a fully distributed team.
• Represent the team with cross-functional partners and stakeholders regarding Git direction and performance.

Requirements

• Must be based in the Americas, Canada, or the United Kingdom.
• Proven experience managing engineering teams, including hiring and performance management.
• Strong background in version control systems, distributed systems, or low-level infrastructure (C, Go).
• Ability to guide specialized engineers through ambiguity and high-stakes technical tradeoffs.
• Strong written communication skills for remote, asynchronous collaboration.
• Experience delivering long-horizon technical projects with clear outcomes.
