What you will do

• Lead the optical design and development of rotary and linear encoder products, including diffractive optical elements and photosensors.
• Translate system-level requirements into detailed optical specifications for MTF, resolution, and illumination performance.
• Perform optical modeling, simulation, and analysis using Zemax to optimize encoder architectures.
• Conduct opto-mechanical tolerance analysis and define bonding and assembly processes.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, firmware, and quality teams to integrate and validate solutions.
• Manage external suppliers to source and scale optical components for high-volume production.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent with 8+ years of experience (or Master's with 6+ years).
• Strong proficiency with optical design tools such as Zemax or Code V.
• Hands-on lab experience in optical testing, metrology, characterization, and complex assembly development.
• Proficiency in programming languages: Python, C++, and MATLAB.
• Solid understanding of diffractive optics and experience working with optics vendors.
• Ability to mentor less experienced team members and collaborate with stakeholders.
