Senior/Staff Backend Engineer (Python/Flask, PostgreSQL): Build and operate the Data Privacy Orchestrator platform that enables GDPR-compliant data lifecycle (retention, deletion, anonymization, pseudonymization) across hirify.global. Focus on designing safe-by-default abstractions at scale, hardening production safety/observability mechanisms, and enabling other engineering areas to run their own data rules without bottlenecks.

Location: You must be legally eligible to work in France, Belgium, or Spain. Remote work flexibility is available, with value placed on in-person collaboration.

What you will do

• Own and run the Data Privacy Orchestrator platform engine, including safety mechanisms (preview/dry-run, audit trail) and operational health (deploys, on-call, observability).
• Harden the platform for production use and document it end-to-end.
• Extend platform coverage across data stores and third-party systems as hirify.global expands into new countries.
• Ship paved-road tooling (docs, templates, self-serve capabilities) so each area can manage its own data rules.
• Align legal, security, data, and product on requirements and resolve deletion-ordering trade-offs.
• Raise the bar on safety, observability, and developer experience for engineers building on top of the platform.

Requirements

• Senior/staff-level backend or platform engineering experience with evidence of deep production ownership.
• Experience building and operating platforms/libraries/services that other engineers depend on, with strong attention to the contracts exposed to users.
• Ability to influence across multiple teams (legal, security, data, product) and drive decisions to completion.
• Hands-on coding and production operation: write code (Python, TypeScript), ship to production, and handle rollouts, alerting, on-call, and incident response.
• Comfort with design and communication: write framing docs, map dependencies, and align stakeholders on design decisions.
• English: fluent enough to work effectively (French not required).
• Legal eligibility to work in France, Belgium, or Spain.
