Group Head of Compliance Sanctions (Contract)

Location: London, hybrid with 4 days in the office and 1 day working from home

Rate: £400–£600 per day via umbrella

What you will do

• Lead and enhance the global sanctions and export controls compliance framework.
• Provide strategic guidance on complex sanctions, export controls, and cross-border payment activity.
• Act as the senior escalation point for high-risk customers, transactions, and trade finance cases.
• Ensure compliance with OFAC, OFSI, EU, and UN sanctions regimes.
• Partner with senior leadership, regulators, and key stakeholders through reporting and strategic advice.
• Lead and develop a global compliance team while improving controls, screening, and governance.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience leading sanctions compliance in the financial services sector.
• Relevant experience in payments, fintech, banking, FX, correspondent banking, or trade finance.
• Extensive knowledge of global sanctions regimes and export control regulations.
• Strong stakeholder management, decision-making, and communication skills.
• Immediate availability or a maximum two-week notice period is required.
