What you will do

• Own the end-to-end delivery of identity services, from design and implementation to deployment and operation.
• Raise engineering standards through design reviews, mentoring, and pragmatic technical guidance.
• Balance feature development with the reliability and availability of critical infrastructure at high request volumes.
• Lead incident response and post-mortem analysis to ensure system stability and prevent recurrence.
• Define the long-term technical roadmap for identity services, including SSO, OIDC, and SCIM evolution.
• Coordinate alignment across stakeholders to solve complex, ambiguous technical and business challenges.

Requirements

• Must be based in London or willing to work from the office 2 days per week.
• Extensive experience in production-grade backend engineering at a Staff level.
• Proven track record of driving initiatives from design through to operation across team boundaries.
• Experience building and operating reliable, high-throughput services.
• Strong software engineering and architecture principles with a focus on mentoring others.
• Resilience and comfort operating in a fast-moving, maturing organization.

Nice to have

• Depth in identity and access platforms (SSO, OIDC, SCIM, session management).
• Familiarity with modern cloud-native infrastructure (EKS, Aurora, Redis).
