Global Lead Buyer - Ocean Freight and Logistic Services

Location: Wrocław, Poland; hybrid work with 1–2 days per week from the Wrocław office and home office

What you will do

• Develop and execute the global sourcing strategy and long-term supplier roadmap for ocean freight and strategic logistics services.
• Lead global sourcing initiatives, RFQs, international transportation tenders, and contract negotiations.
• Manage strategic relationships with ocean carriers, NVOCCs, freight forwarders, and logistics providers.
• Negotiate freight rates, capacity agreements, service levels, and commercial terms while delivering cost savings and supplier optimization.
• Monitor freight markets, carrier performance, capacity trends, and geopolitical developments.
• Develop disruption mitigation plans and improve transportation networks, supplier performance, and sustainability in collaboration with logistics, supply chain, manufacturing, and procurement teams.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience in strategic procurement or category management for ocean freight and international transportation.
• Experience managing global transportation spend, leading international tenders, and negotiating directly with global ocean carriers and logistics providers.
• Strong knowledge of container shipping, trade lanes, freight forwarding, multimodal transportation, carrier markets, pricing models, total landed costs, and logistics cost modeling.
• Knowledge of Incoterms 2020, FIATA standards, ocean carrier contracting, IMO regulations, FuelEU Maritime, EU ETS for maritime transport, customs, and international trade requirements.
• Experience with transportation, procurement, and analytics systems such as SAP/SAP TM, Coupa, Transporeon, Xeneta, Freightos, Jira, or Power BI.
• Fluent English is required. A university degree in business, supply chain, logistics, engineering, or a related discipline and willingness to travel internationally are also required.
