What you will do

• Own the health, growth, and output of a distributed engineering team, including hiring and career development.
• Partner with product management to shape the team roadmap, balancing feature delivery with technical investment.
• Set and maintain the quality bar for the platform, focusing on observability, reliability, and engineering practices.
• Manage the delivery cadence through planning, prioritization, and retrospectives.
• Coordinate dependencies and communication across multiple teams to reduce overhead.
• Handle operational incidents and lead post-mortem follow-ups to ensure system stability.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams of five or more people.
• Proven experience leading distributed or remote-first teams across multiple time zones.
• Strong technical background in software engineering capable of guiding architectural and infrastructure decisions.
• Track record of effective hiring, onboarding, and talent retention.
• Experience partnering with product management to deliver meaningful business outcomes.
• Must be based in the UK

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Go, Scala, React, TypeScript, Next, GraphQL, or gRPC.
• Experience with AWS and Kubernetes.
• Background in real-time, event-driven, or high-value transaction systems.
