Salary: Up to £75,000 plus potential bonus up to £15,000

What you will do

• Lead and mentor 6–8 engineers across two teams, fostering a culture of high standards and psychological safety.
• Set technical direction and guide design decisions, ensuring alignment with product goals.
• Plan and track project delivery, managing dependencies and scope changes effectively.
• Conduct regular one-to-ones focused on growth, wellbeing, and career progression.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to communicate technical trade-offs and project status.
• Integrate AI and automation into team workflows to improve efficiency and software quality.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to commute to Cardiff, UK.
• Strong understanding of software engineering, preferably with hands-on experience in Java and Spring Boot.
• Proven track record in project planning, delivery, and managing technical dependencies.
• Experience in line management or a strong background in coaching and mentoring engineers.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience using data and metrics to track progress and identify risks.

Nice to have

• Experience in the financial sector.
• Frontend development experience with React and TypeScript.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tooling like Jenkins.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana or Prometheus.
