What you will do

• Analyze existing SQL Server schemas, stored procedures, and indexes to identify performance bottlenecks.
• Refactor and optimize inefficient SQL queries and complex stored procedures.
• Implement and monitor advanced indexing strategies, query plans, and partitioning.
• Rationalize and clean up redundant or obsolete database objects.
• Define and implement database standards, governance procedures, and documentation.
• Educate development teams on writing performant SQL and best practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with SQL Server (2016+).
• Proven expertise in performance tuning, troubleshooting locks, deadlocks, and query bottlenecks.
• Deep knowledge of SQL, T-SQL, indexing strategies, and execution plans.
• Experience in reverse engineering large-scale, legacy stored procedure logic.
• Ability to communicate technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with data modeling and schema redesign.
• Familiarity with database monitoring tools like Redgate, SolarWinds, or SQL Sentry.
• Understanding of CI/CD practices for database changes.
