Quality Lab Technician (Wire and Cable Testing)

Location: Willimantic, Connecticut, United States. First shift only, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.

Pay range: $26.40–$31.21 per hour.

What you will do

• Interpret engineering and industry specifications and establish quality and reliability standards with management and engineering staff.
• Select production samples and perform electrical, mechanical, fiber optic, flame, destructive, and nondestructive tests.
• Record and analyze test data, evaluate deviations, and enter results into computer systems.
• Recommend quality and production procedure improvements within equipment capabilities.
• Assist with complaint analysis, corrective actions, continuous improvement projects, 6S events, and Layered Process Audits.
• Communicate with associates, technicians, engineers, customers, inspectors, and auditors while maintaining safety and housekeeping standards.

Requirements

• Experience with wire and cable testing, fiber optics, flame testing, and electrical and mechanical testing.
• Technical skills, analytical ability, sound judgment, operational focus, and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, collaborate in a team, multitask, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and the ability to enter and analyze test data.
• Ability to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Nice to have

• 2–4 years of quality laboratory experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Office programs and wire and cable manufacturing.
• Associate degree in an engineering or technical field; relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
