Automation Engineer

What you will do

• Oversee and perform all phases of controls and automation project work, including plant automation support.
• Improve existing automation and develop new automation equipment and controls integration optimizations.
• Design and upgrade control systems; monitor and troubleshoot control loops, instruments, and control systems.
• Calibrate instruments, control valves, and controllers; maintain daily maintenance and plant calibration logs.
• Lead predictive maintenance, preventative maintenance completion, diagnostics, repairs, and rebuilds; perform root-cause analysis for corrective actions.
• Read, modify, and troubleshoot through PLC and HMI codes; install and tune VFDs; use CMMS to track maintenance action items.

Requirements

• Based in Mt. Crawford, Virginia.
• Proficiency with Allen Bradley and Rockwell automation software/hardware and structured test programming; familiarity with VFDs.
• Experience with PLC and HMI code troubleshooting and control systems work.
• Instrument calibration experience (certification preferred).
• Working knowledge of food industry standards and regulations (AIB, PMO, FDA).
• Ability to work various hours/shifts and respond to emergencies; strong communication and teamwork skills.
