TL;DR
SCADA & Automation Engineer (SCADA/Automation): Designing and analyzing SCADA and control systems for substations, power plants, wind and solar facilities with an accent on end-to-end design packages, protocol/data-flow block diagrams, and commissioning/testing. What you will do
- Design retrofit or new SCADA and control systems for substations, power plants, wind farms, solar plants, and other electrical power facilities.
- Develop SCADA block diagrams covering protocols, communications media, networking, addressing, and data flow.
- Create full SCADA design packages (panel drawings, BOM, schematics/wiring, data mapping and points lists, and device settings files).
- Perform factory and on-site testing/commissioning, including communications troubleshooting, device programming, and end-to-end functional testing.
- Coordinate SCADA scope across stakeholders (vendors, owners, and telco/fiber providers) and support project planning and scheduling.
- Provide technical leadership and produce project deliverables as required.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology (electric power option preferred).
- Experience: 1–4 years of relevant engineering or field experience.
- Authorization: Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and related software).
- Effective written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
Nice to have
- Protocols and standards: DNP3.0, Modbus, SEL, OPC, IEC 61850; IEC 61131 programming standards.
- RTU/PLC platforms and device integration; power plant networking (security, firewalls, managed switches).
- Knowledge of NERC CIP requirements and experience with factory/site acceptance testing.
