SCADA & Automation Engineer (Power Systems)

Location: Fully remote or local/in-office in Lakewood, Colorado; applicants must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States. Field work and 15–25% travel may be required.

Salary: $85,000–$125,000 per year. The description also lists a $75,000–$110,000 annual range based on the Denver labor market.

What you will do

• Design retrofit and new SCADA and control systems for substations, power plants, wind farms, solar plants, and other electrical power facilities.
• Develop SCADA block diagrams covering protocols, communications media, networking, addressing, and data flow.
• Coordinate SCADA scope with vendors, owners, telecommunications providers, and other project stakeholders.
• Prepare design packages including panel drawings, bills of materials, schematics, wiring diagrams, data maps, points lists, and device settings.
• Program, test, commission, and troubleshoot SCADA systems, including end-to-end point testing and communications issue resolution.
• Support project planning and scheduling while providing technical leadership and project deliverables.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution; an electric power option is preferred.
• 1–4 years of relevant engineering or field experience.
• Experience with AutoCAD and proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
• Effective written and oral communication, interpersonal, and people skills.
• Current authorization to work full-time in the United States is required.
• FE or PE licensure is a plus but not required.

Nice to have

• Experience with DNP3.0, Modbus, SEL, OPC, IEC 61850, RTU platforms, PLC programming, and IEC 61131 standards.
• Knowledge of NERC CIP requirements, device integration, power plant networking, security, firewalls, and managed switches.
• Experience designing HMI screens and performing factory or site acceptance testing.
