Principal Systems Engineer

TL;DR

Principal Systems Engineer (Systems Engineering): Develop next-generation requirements and model-based systems engineering concepts for full system development lifecycle solutions with an accent on cross-domain system design, digital capabilities (digital twins and digital threads), and verification/validation. What you will do

• Independently drive solutions to complex problems by developing requirements and adapting to changing or unclear customer requirements.
• Lead medium-sized teams (5–10 people) to align execution with program goals and build team trust.
• Act as a Systems Engineering SME across requirements, systems concepts, and interface concepts.
• Develop and apply analysis techniques to suggest design modifications and address technical challenges across disciplines.
• Identify program/system-level technical risks and develop and execute mitigation strategies.
• Develop, document, and teach best practices; actively mentor less experienced engineers.

Requirements

• 7–10+ years of experience as a systems engineer or in a related role.
• Practical experience with the systems engineering process and simulation-based performance analysis.
• Experience with modeling and simulation and/or descriptive modeling (e.g., SysML), and familiarity with engineering analysis tools (e.g., STPA).
• Ability to maintain a consistent on-site presence.
• US government security clearance is required (obtain and maintain).

Nice to have

• Expert-level proficiency in SysML and/or OMG SysML certification.
• Knowledge of GN&C, avionics architectures, fault tolerance, cyber/security, comms/encryption, and threat modeling.
• Proficiency with computer language coding and additional engineering analysis methods.
