Aerospace Engineer-SME

Location: Los Angeles Air Force Base, El Segundo, California, United States; in person/hybrid and not remote

Salary: $130,000+ annually, depending on experience, certifications, and qualifications

What you will do

• Provide senior-level systems engineering and technical advisory support across the full acquisition lifecycle.
• Develop, validate, verify, trace, and control system requirements and technical baselines.
• Integrate space, ground, launch, communications, and mission-support segments for missile warning, missile tracking, missile defense, and battlespace awareness capabilities.
• Develop architectures using Model-Based Systems Engineering, Digital Engineering, and mission-thread analysis.
• Assess system performance, interfaces, risks, dependencies, readiness, cybersecurity, safety, resiliency, reliability, and maintainability.
• Support launch integration, on-orbit checkout, program reviews, technical boards, acquisition documentation, and transition to sustainment.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and an active Top Secret clearance are required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 15 years of relevant aerospace, space systems, defense acquisition, or systems engineering experience.
• Experience supporting Department of Defense or Space Force acquisition programs and working with space, missile warning, missile defense, satellite, ground, or mission operations systems.
• Experience with requirements management, technical baseline management, systems integration, verification and validation, risk management, and the DoD acquisition lifecycle.
• Strong technical writing, briefing, coordination, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with government, contractor, operational, and senior leadership stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Supervisory or team-lead experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and mentoring personnel.
• Master’s degree in a relevant engineering or technical field.
• Experience with SSC, Missile Warning, OPIR, SBIRS, FORGE, launch integration, on-orbit operations, ground segment integration, sensor fusion, or TCPED processes.
• Experience with MBSE, Digital Engineering, Agile development, DevSecOps, or model-based mission assurance.
• Active TS/SCI clearance and familiarity with applicable DoD, Air Force, space safety, and acquisition standards.
