Senior Commissioning Engineer

TL;DR

Senior Commissioning Engineer (Power Generation): Lead commissioning, startup, functional testing, and operational validation of power generation systems at customer sites with an accent on electrical/mechanical/controls troubleshooting, safety-compliant energization, and meeting design specifications. What you will do

• Lead commissioning, startup, functional testing, and operational validation of power generation systems at customer sites.
• Verify installation of electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, controls, and auxiliary systems; perform system checkout, calibration, loop checks, and pre-commissioning inspections.
• Execute commissioning procedures and performance testing to ensure systems meet design specifications and customer requirements.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, controls/PLC, engine, generator, and balance-of-plant issues during startup and commissioning.
• Coordinate daily commissioning activities with project management, construction, operations, field service teams, contractors, vendors, and customer personnel.
• Prepare commissioning reports and turnover packages; conduct root cause analysis and verify corrective actions; support energization, synchronization, load testing, and acceptance testing.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in commissioning, startup, field engineering, power generation, or industrial construction.
• Strong knowledge of generators, switchgear, medium- and low-voltage electrical systems, PLC controls, instrumentation, engines, and balance-of-plant equipment.
• Experience commissioning industrial power generation and/or distributed energy systems (e.g., microgrids, utility-scale equipment).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical one-line diagrams, P&IDs, control schematics, wiring diagrams, and construction drawings.
• Strong understanding of commissioning processes and industrial safety practices (including lockout/tagout and energized work practices).
• Willingness to travel ~75% and work a rotational schedule (~3 weeks on-site, 1 week remote).
