What you will do

• Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of energy trends and policies at regional and country levels in Southeast Asia.
• Develop policy recommendations for the successful transformation to low-carbon power systems and the electrification of end uses.
• Analyze technical, economic, and institutional aspects of integrating renewable energy while enhancing energy security.
• Collaborate with IEA divisions in Paris on electricity systems, market design, and cross-border power trade.
• Establish working relations with policy makers, regulators, and international organizations like the ASEAN Secretariat and World Bank.
• Promote Agency work through capacity building, training events, and workshops.

Requirements

• Advanced university degree in economics, engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline.
• 3-7 years of experience in energy market design, power sector, and policy development.
• Proven experience with market frameworks and regulations that enable scaling-up electrification and renewable deployment.
• Experience engaging policy makers and energy system stakeholders in emerging economies.
• English: Excellent oral and written communication and drafting skills required.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including macros and pivot tables.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of other languages spoken in Southeast Asia.
• Experience regarding power system flexibility and long-term resource adequacy.
• Demonstrated expertise in power sector operations and planning.
• Specific knowledge of the Southeast Asian region.
