Senior Hands-on Software Architect (Java/AWS)

What you will do

• Design and evolve scalable software architectures for enterprise applications.
• Modernize legacy monolithic systems into cloud-native microservices using Strangler Fig, Change Data Capture, and event-driven architecture patterns.
• Develop production-ready software with Java and Spring Boot, Laravel with PHP, and React.
• Design RESTful APIs and asynchronous integrations using Kafka and Amazon SQS; define service boundaries, data ownership, and distributed-system communication strategies.
• Architect and implement AWS cloud solutions with focus on scalability, resiliency, and cost efficiency; collaborate with DevOps teams on deployment, monitoring, and operational excellence.
• Participate in coding, design reviews, code reviews, production troubleshooting, root cause analysis, mentoring, and continuous improvement of architecture, development processes, and observability.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience designing and developing enterprise software solutions.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot, plus professional experience developing applications with Laravel (PHP) and React.
• Deep understanding of object-oriented design principles, GoF design patterns, and software engineering best practices.
• Extensive experience designing distributed systems and cloud-native applications.
• Strong understanding of Microservices, Modular Monoliths, Strangler Fig, CDC, Event-Driven Architecture, Domain-Driven Design, and RESTful APIs.
• Experience implementing asynchronous communication with Kafka and/or Amazon SQS, and experience with Debezium or other CDC technologies.
• Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, including MySQL, Amazon RDS, and Amazon DynamoDB.
• Experience with AWS services including ECS, EC2, DynamoDB, SQS, RDS, VPC, IAM, and Systems Manager Parameter Store.
• Experience troubleshooting complex production environments, plus familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.

Nice to have

• Experience modernizing large-scale monolithic applications.
• Experience with Docker, ECS, or Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of New Relic, CloudWatch, Grafana, or Prometheus.
• Experience with Terraform or CloudFormation for infrastructure as code.
• Familiarity with Redis or distributed caching solutions.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
