Translator I (Bilingual Japanese / English) (Video Games)

Location: Hybrid in Irvine, California, with in-office attendance required on specified days each week

What you will do

• Translate Japanese game text, scripts, manuals, web content, QA bugs, and other materials into accurate, context-sensitive English.
• Prepare localization materials, including term lists, character descriptions, voiceover scripts, glossaries, style guides, and story bibles.
• Play assigned game builds, create summaries, and share relevant project information.
• Collaborate with editors, translators, project leads, and other project members to clarify text and resolve localization issues.
• Support voiceover recording sessions and help address pacing, line-read accuracy, and performance-related needs.
• Track project progress, attend required meetings, and provide QA and marketing translation support.

Requirements

• Working in the Irvine office is an essential function, with face-to-face collaboration and supervision required.
• Typically 1–2 or more years of translation experience.
• Fluency in written and spoken Japanese is required.
• Basic English grammar skills.
• Strong communication, reliability, attention to detail, timeliness, and self-management.
