Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Provo, Utah, or Seattle, Washington, United States

Salary: $100,000–$130,000 base salary annually, plus a discretionary bonus or commission and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of complex features and core platform components for the Hyperlift Stars Platform.
• Architect scalable data services, pipelines, PostgreSQL schemas, backend microservices, and REST APIs.
• Implement and optimize backend services in Python, Elixir, or Golang.
• Set technical direction, guide system design, and mentor engineers through code reviews and architectural decisions.
• Establish testing, observability, deployment, rollback, and AI-native engineering practices.
• Troubleshoot distributed event-driven systems and participate in the full software lifecycle from ideation through long-term support.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience architecting and delivering scalable systems with minimal oversight.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Expertise in Python and strong knowledge of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
• Experience with REST APIs, event-driven architecture, distributed systems, microservices, and cloud infrastructure such as Azure or AWS.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, DevOps, CI/CD, containerization, Kubernetes, Docker, and observability tools.
• Ability to provide technical direction, mentor peers, communicate clearly, and balance technical quality with pragmatic delivery.

Nice to have

• Experience with Elixir or Golang.
• Experience applying AI tools to improve reliability, efficiency, and development velocity.
