Forward Deployed Engineer (Video Streaming)

TL;DR

Forward Deployed Engineer (Java/C++/Cloud): Developing production code for the core encoding stack and managing technical relationships for US enterprise accounts with an accent on triaging complex encoding issues and bridging the gap between customers and the EU engineering team. Focus on optimizing video streaming workflows, resolving critical production incidents, and translating field insights into product roadmap improvements.

Location: Remote, United States (East Coast or Denver preferred). Must already have the right to work in the US.

What you will do

• Contribute production code in Java, Kotlin, and C++ as an embedded member of the Encoding team's sprints.
• Own technical relationships for marquee US enterprise accounts, covering the timezone gap from the EU team.
• Triage and troubleshoot encoding issues and drive production incidents to resolution.
• Travel to customer sites (up to 25%) to support integrations and run technical workshops.
• Translate field learnings and customer feedback into the product roadmap and sprint planning.

Requirements

• 5+ years of senior-level software engineering experience with strong proficiency in Java or C++.
• 2+ years in a customer-facing technical role (e.g., Solutions Architecture, Professional Services, or Forward Deployed).
• Experience with Cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), Docker, and debugging scalable distributed services.
• Based on the US East Coast or in Denver.
• Must already possess the right to work in the United States.
• Excellent written and verbal English for communicating with enterprise engineering teams.

Nice to have

• Domain knowledge of video streaming: codecs (H.264/HEVC, AV1), container formats, HLS/DASH, and OTT workflows.
• Experience with hirify.global or competing platforms like AWS MediaConvert/Elemental, Harmonic, or MediaKind.
• Experience in 24/7 live streaming operations and incident management.
