Plant Helper

TL;DR

Plant Helper (Industrial Maintenance): Assisting in the installation, operation, and maintenance of district energy plant equipment including chillers and high-pressure boilers with an accent on safety and system reliability. Focus on developing technical skills to transition into a Mechanic/Operator role while ensuring continuous service for customers.

Location: Must be based in Kansas City, MO

Salary: $30.84 per hour plus 10% bonus target

What you will do

• Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of chillers, steam turbines, and high-pressure boilers.
• Monitor plant equipment and maintain operational logs to ensure systems function within safety limitations.
• Perform troubleshooting and develop resolutions for equipment failures or out-of-ordinary conditions.
• Execute preventive maintenance tasks including work on valves, pumps, and distribution systems.
• Follow strict Lock Out/Tag Out procedures and maintain plant cleanliness.
• Work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a maintenance or industrial work environment.
• Must be willing and able to work rotating shifts including holidays, nights, and weekends.
• Must possess a valid driver license and maintain a clean driving record.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and maneuver 100 pounds.
• Must qualify to wear a respirator and pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening.

Nice to have

• Navy nuclear experience.
• Technical trade school training.
• Boiler, power plant, or chiller system knowledge.
