What you will do

• Design and build core components of the query and compute engine powering the product suite.
• Evolve the compute API and semantic layer to support generic data models and complex analytical queries.
• Improve performance, reliability, and scalability of query planning and execution.
• Unify the core data model to represent event and non-event data consistently.
• Partner with cross-functional teams including Session Replay, Experiment, and CDP to shape the compute layer.
• Own projects end-to-end from initial design through to production rollout.

Requirements

• Strong backend or distributed-systems engineering experience, particularly with OLAP databases or data infrastructure.
• Proficiency with SQL, query planning, and building APIs for internal engineering teams.
• Ability to reason about tradeoffs between flexibility, performance, and ease of use.
• Proven track record of owning ambiguous, cross-team projects end-to-end.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with large-scale event or time-series data systems.
• Familiarity with designing semantic layers, ORMs, or columnar databases.
• Experience integrating data platforms with external tools or AI/agent workflows.
