TL;DR

Student Engagement & Program Coordinator (Athletics & Recreation): Leading and coordinating campus and community engagement programming with an accent on youth sport development, event planning, and student staff management. Focus on building community affinity, executing high-impact athletic events, and fostering leadership development within the university recreation environment.

Location: Must be based in Kelowna, BC, Canada (Onsite at hirify.global Okanagan Campus)

Compensation: $5,964.75 - $8,573.08 CAD Monthly

What you will do

  • Lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of campus and community engagement programs, including youth sport development and large-scale athletic events.
  • Manage fan engagement operations for varsity game days to ensure a high-quality spectator experience.
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student staff, including managing payroll and performance.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to build partnerships and fundraising opportunities for athletic programs.
  • Serve as a risk manager for all led programs, ensuring compliance with safety, insurance, and contractual obligations.
  • Support alumni engagement initiatives such as tournaments and scholarship events.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Human Kinetics, Physical Education, Business Operations, or Events Planning).
  • Minimum of one year of professional experience in sport or student development.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize sport/recreation events and coordinate student development programs.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Nice to have

  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Experience managing risk in a sport setting.
  • History of innovation and self-starting capabilities.
