TL;DR

Director, Global A&R (Music): Identify and sign emerging talent across genres and regions for frontline labels with an accent on long-term career development and global market impact. Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Requires 4 days per week in the office

Pay range: $110,000 - $140,000/annual

What you will do

  • Identify and sign emerging talent across countries and genres for frontline labels, focusing on career development.
  • Collaborate with artists, producers, and songwriters to shape musical vision and execute projects.
  • Oversee recording budgets, timelines, video shoots, and artist development initiatives like songwriter camps.
  • Partner with marketing to create release strategies, narratives, and global exposure plans.
  • Monitor market trends, social media, and performance to adjust artist strategies.
  • Build relationships with industry influencers and maintain artist integrity throughout projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8-10 years in A&R or related roles with proven track record in artist discovery and management
  • Strong industry network with artists, producers, managers, and executives
  • Excellent ear for talent, trends, and ability to balance creative vision with business goals
  • Leadership skills to manage teams and complex cross-functional projects
  • Flexibility to travel on short notice
  • Deep knowledge of digital commerce, DSPs, and playlists
