What you will do

• Write sharp, accurate, and engaging stories for online platforms.
• Cover breaking news, court cases, and inquests.
• Develop original stories and features for local and national indexes.
• Coordinate online news coverage across the Yorkshire region.
• Create multimedia content incorporating images, video, and audio.

Requirements

• Substantial professional experience as a text-based journalist in a UK-based daily news environment.
• Demonstrable experience of court reporting and excellent working knowledge of media law.
• 100wpm shorthand proficiency.
• Ability to consistently generate original ideas and turn them into multimedia material.
• Excellent news writing skills with an understanding of online media.

Nice to have

• Video production skills.
• Ability to use social media for sourcing and showcasing content.
• Knowledge of the South Yorkshire area and current news events.
