User Experience Designer

TL;DR

User Experience Designer (Accessibility/UX): Overseeing visual design and building easy-to-navigate, responsive web UI prototypes with an accent on Section 508 compliance, usability testing, and inclusive design standards. Focus on accessibility liaison support, accessibility training delivery, and ensuring ICT systems meet SharePoint site testing goals.

Location: On-site in Washington, DC (active TS clearance required)

Salary: $60,000 - $180,000 USD

What you will do

• Oversee visual design efforts to support accessibility and Section 508 compliance.
• Develop and maintain relationships with marketing, branding, UX, and IT stakeholders to plan creative, user-centered solutions.
• Create proof-of-concepts and prototypes for responsive, easy-to-navigate web UIs using graphics, icons, and consistent visual design.
• Plan and facilitate usability testing; analyze results and recommend changes to improve the system.
• Support accessibility governance activities, including Accessibility Liaison events, trainings, and customer service desk support for accessibility complaints.
• Support release management, outage management, and change control processes; manage resource plans and project documentation such as style guides.

Requirements

• Active TS security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing Section 508–compliant designs with strong accessibility principles, usability testing, and inclusive design standards.
• Proven ability to collaborate across UX, IT, and communications teams to deliver cohesive, user-centered digital experiences.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to create, maintain, and enforce visual design standards and style guides.
