Staff Engineer (FHIR)

Staff Engineer (FHIR): Developing and modernizing Hospital Quality Reporting software for CMS with an accent on healthcare interoperability and FHIR standards. What you will do

• Design and deliver medium-to-large features for HQR software while actively reducing technical debt.
• Build and integrate RESTful APIs aligned with FHIR specifications and interoperability patterns.
• Develop comprehensive test plans and automate testing processes to support continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with teammates and client stakeholders to integrate quality considerations throughout the SDLC.
• Implement and conduct performance and security testing following industry standards and business requirements.
• Establish and enforce coding standards, tracking metrics to assess software quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 8+ years of professional development experience.
• Proficiency in Java/Springboot and at least one other language from Go, Python, Angular, or TypeScript.
• Experience with AWS, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and fully automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Deep knowledge of HL7 FHIR standards (R4), HAPI FHIR, and healthcare data formats (QRDA, C-CDA).
• Strong experience with relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL.
• US Citizenship or Green Card only; must have US Residency for at least the past 3 years.

Nice to have

• AWS Certifications.
• Experience with AWS ECS Fargate, RDS, and S3.
• Familiarity with Databricks or modern data platforms.
• Experience with large-scale healthcare reporting or CMS regulatory programs.
